Corrosion resistant coatings are an important part of protecting metal components and structures against degradation due to moisture, salt spray, and oxidation from a variety of environmental or industrial chemicals.

Corrosion Testing

ASL is equipped with electrochemical workstation and ASTM standard test equipment for accelerated corrosion testing. These are used for ongoing research and as a service center to local industry. Representative standard test facilities available at ASL include:

• Tafel plots and corrosion potential
• Electron impedance spectroscopy (EIS)
• Salt-Fog Chamber (ASTM Corrosion Tests)
• Thermotron humidity and temperature cycling chambers
• SEM-EDS analysis
