AEROSPACE APPLICATIONS
The ASL and Boeing partnership is aimed at developing novel materials for the aerospace industry. Fast and cost effective innovation increasingly depends on the use of computers as “laboratories” to develop new technologies. Currently, ASL is involved in developing new materials from conceptualization to deployment using high-performance computing and multiscale, multiphysics platforms. Areas of ongoing research and development include:
- Environment friendly corrosion prevention solutions
- Tools for in-silico corrosion testing and lifetime prediction
- Design of next generation paints and coatings
- Design of anti-icing surfaces
- Improved adhesion performance for composites
